CAS application under verification.

I got an email from the CAS saying that they got the application and are verifying it.  I also sent emails to my letter writers letting them know about the process and giving them a heads up.  That should be it for a while.  I will probably call the CAS in August some time to make sure they don't need anything else from me.

CAS Application sent!

Its off.  I sent all the required materials as certified mail with return card.  I will get a reciept from them when they get it.  No way this thing is getting lost in the mail.

I also sent to Northwestern's Office of Student affairs so that they would send a transcript and copy of my dean's letter to the CAS.  Everything is now done.

For my application to be complete the CAS will have to send out requests for letters of recommendation to the 3 people I named.  Then those three people will have to send the letters back.  Basically its out of my hands now.  Nothing left to do except sit back and wait for interviews.  I also plan to call the CAS office once a month or so to see if my letters got in and to make sure everything is in order.

Application Service now open

The letter from the application service came. I plan to get all my stuff done within the next week. Here is the website:

Central Application

Here is a brief list of the things you need to complete application.
1) Transcript from your medical school and a copy of the deans letter. These need to be sent from the medical school to the CAS. They have a form letter to fill out and send. Looks easy.
2) Copy of the confirmation letter from the ABPS that says you are ready to go.
3) Copy of the letter from SFMATCH that says you are registered.
4) Address for your department of surgery
5) Address for each of your 3 (and only 3) letter writers, one of which has to be the program director.
6) State license number.
7) Have to have the USMLE send exam scores to them.
8) answers to these 8 questions about why you want plastics, your weaknesses etc. As it turns out no personal statement is required.
9) there are 50 programs, and on the site is a checklist to decide which ones you want to apply to. Just have to print that off and check the ones you are interested in.
10) Application fee of $25 per program. To apply to all 50 its $1250.
11) A recent photo of you for each program you are applying to and one extra for the CAS.
